COSPLAY TIPS TO WOW JUDGES

  • 80% or more of your cosplay is made by you. A cosplay free of wrinkles, stains and rips displays a level of care.

  • Onsite repairs done with care are also impressive.

  • Being able to speak about your cosplay in detail to the judges.

  • Questions that you may be asked are but not limited to:
    - What materials did you use?
    - How long did it take for you to make?
    - What inspired you to create this look?
    - Can I see the inside of your jacket?
    - Did you run into any issues?
    - What was your method?

  • Remember to speak up and speak clearly. Conventions are loud and the quickest way for a panel of judges to rush through your judging time is when they can not hear or understand you. So remember to speak up and clearly.

  • If you’re cosplaying a viral fan work of a published or a not well known character bringing reference images are very helpful.

  • Make up elevates your overall look. Cosplay wigs can drown you out. Makeup will make your features pop which will make your photos look even more amazing.
